Be Still My Wings

Click to see the detail in his antennae

Not sure what type of butterfly this may be - most days, there are quite a few of them flitting about my potted flowers. This lil guy is resting on a snapdragon; they are rather smallish, not as big as a monarch.

Update: Thanks to Jeannelle from Midlife by Farmlight for identifying my flying beauty, a Pearl Crescent Butterfly (link to Wikipedia). When I found the photos on Wiki, I couldn't believe it -- that is EXACTLY my butterfly! :)

This is a great capture! I've tried to get pics of butterflies, bees, and dragonflies but wasn't as lucky! :(

Great capture! How did you get him to sit so still for you? I must not be able to talk to the insects like you do...LOL

I love those antennae!!! I wonder if this is some version of a painted lady butterfly??? Whatever it is, it is gorgeous!

Lovely! Its a Pearl Crescent Butterfly. The only reason I know that is because I caught one in a photo a few weeks ago and looked it up.

Butterflys never sit still for me long enough to get a pic. Nice shot.

Everyone else has already said it! He's really pretty and as for how you managed to get him to sit still for so long .... I managed a moth but flutterbys are somehow more flighty.
